Dear Professor Chang Ung,
Thank you for your kind words. I fully understand that as members of an organization we are all required to abide by its rules and regulations without exception. However, I find myself in a compromised and difficult situation. It is my belief that our Founder, General Choi Hong Hi wished Taekwon-do to be taught to everyone regardless of race, religion or political affiliation, and ultimately for his dream of one Taekwon-do to be realised. Furthermore it is my duty and responsibility as First Grandmaster to impart my knowledge and experience to any Taekwon-do practitioner who wishes to learn. Therefore, in 2010 when Mr Morningstar invited me to conduct a seminar for his members as one of the existing original pioneers of Taekwon-do; which was one seminar in a series of four seminars conducted by the original pioneers, I felt it was my duty to do so.
As a founding member of ITF I have been fully supportive and engaged in its operations since its foundation in 1966, and so the following is not a decision I have made lightly. I, First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha, hereby tender my resignation from the International Taekwon-Do Federation, HQ; Draugasse 3, Vienna, AUSTRIA, effective immediately.
It is my wish to be able to teach all Taekwon-Do practitioners regardless of which international or national governing body they are members of, and follow what I believe to be our Founder Gen. Choi’s dream, which is one Taekwon-do.
I wish you every success in all of your future endeavours and hope we can retain an amicable relationship.
Yours Sincerely,
First Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha
